Hello! I am Stephanie and I created Gather in December of 2017. I am a portrait and wedding photographer in Northern Michigan. You can check out my work here! Being around people during such important life moments is really an honor and a pleasure. It fills my heart right up! I love what I do, but found that I needed a little more balance in my life. Running a photography business is a very solitary job (so much time behind the computer), which is hard for me - I am a very social person.
Because I love photography, I knew changing my career was out of the question. So, Gather happened! This way, I get to keep doing what I love, add a new element of getting involved in the community, and also seeing people more frequently! I love to work with people, and I love to make things! A perfect combination!
Gather is a place for you to come create things. Arty things, crafty things, beautiful things. There are open crafting classes where you can come in and choose from a wide variety of crafts and also craft-specific classes where we will all be making the same thing! Check out the event schedule here! And if you find the need for a photographer, check out my photography website!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Should I sign up for my class ahead of time?
A. Yes! Most classes sell out in advance. It is also a good idea to sign up or let us know you're coming so we know to expect you. There is limited seating and priority will be given to people who have reserved their seat online.
Q. What the heck does DIY even mean?
A. It's an acronym for do it yourself! Because Gather will teach you how to do a cool thing by yourself! Then you can go home and do more things by yourself, or you can come back to Gather and DIY here!
Q. If there is a snow day, will we still have class?
A. Probably! Usually by the afternoon, the plows have done a good job of cleaning things up. If the weather is still really bad, class might be cancelled! I will contact you at least an hour before if it is cancelled.
Q. What happens if I reserved a spot in a class and I cannot make it?
A. If you cannot make it to a class, please let us know as soon as possible. Gather-only classes are non-refundable (Gather-only classes are ones taught by a Gather employee, probably Stephanie), but you will get a credit that you can use at a future class if you cancel more than four days in advance. If you cancel within four days of the event, you will not be able to take a store credit because we will likely be unable to fill your seat, but you are welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend.
Classes that are taught by a guest teacher are not refundable and you will not receive a store credit, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else. If you are unsure, please check with us!
Q. Can I have a private party? 🎉
A. Heck yes! Kids' birthday classes, bachelorette classes, adult birthday classes, or just-because-i-want-to-hang-out-with-my-friends-and-make-stuff classes! Contact me for info!
Q. How long does a class last?
A. Most classes last about an hour and a half. Some are an hour and some are two! If you are on a time crunch, please reach out to ask so you know what to expect.
Q. What do I need to bring to class?
A. Usually nothing except an open mind and desire to learn! If you need to bring supplies, you will receive an email before the class telling you what to bring. The only standing class where you have to bring anything is the string art class and I ask that you bring your own hammer!
Q. Where is Gather?
A. Gather is at 156 East Main Street, Harbor Springs, Michigan 49740. We are across the street from the Outfitter and above Coyote Woman Gallery.
